Social Experiment
At the end of last semester, I won an award for “the most outgoing brother” from my fraternity. I was a little shocked, but not surprised because I am an extrovert. But I could argue that, yes, I am very outgoing, but just “knowing” of people was not enough to be considered “outgoing”.
I wanted to test my outgoing-ness by stepping out of my comfort zone by getting to know people that I’ve known for awhile and complete strangers. So far the social experiment has been very rewarding because I’ve learned new things that aren’t just skin deep. I’ve surprisingly learned new things about myself through these conversations that have turned into new friendships.
I know we are very busy people, but try to give people a chance, and don’t quickly write them off. Step out of your comfort zone, and invite them to have coffee with you!
